CROSSFIT

At Bar Path CrossFit you will not find machines. Instead you will find pull-up bars, kettlebells, barbells and wide open space for squatting, running, jumping, climbing, lifting and throwing – moving your body the way it is meant to be moved. It means that all your workouts will be comprised of exercises that mimic movements performed in day-to-day life or sport. We focus on improving functional movements that are necessary and common in your daily activities.

Each day is programmed for you to complete a workout that is scalable to suit your fitness level. Our fitness programming aims to improve your capacity in ten recognized fitness domains cardio-respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. The result is comprehensive physical fitness and restored vitality.

LEVEL 1 CROSSFIT

The Level 1 CrossFit program is designed to meet you where you are and help you develop a fitness base. This means focusing on increasing strength and mobility while conditioning your body to move faster and more efficiently. This program is complete, allowing long term fitness lovers to enjoy themselves alongside those looking to advance to the next levels. This class develops “the Complete Athlete.” Quality of movement is the key component of advancement.

BEGINNERS

Beginner’s CrossFit will take you through the basic principles and technique of all functional movements. Technique is essential for each individual movement. During the beginner classes, we will take you step by step through each of the movements guiding your progress to make sure you get the most out of your workouts.

CROSSFIT L2

The Level2 Program is for veteran CrossFitters and multi-sport athletes who want to supplement CrossFit into their training. This class is for athletes that would like to become competitors, and need more practice and technical instruction on Olympic lifts and gymnastic movements. In order to join this program, athletes must meet specific skill requirements and be referred for recommendation by a Coach.

CROSSFIT KIDS

Bar Path CrossFit Kids is meant to be BIG fun for all ages. Broad-Inclusive-General fun. Fun means we provide an active alternative to sedentary choices, which means less childhood obesity and all-around better health for our children. The program is scalable for any age or experience level and accounts for the variety of maturity levels one can find in a class full of kids.

Bar Path CrossFit Kids is a method for teaching CrossFit to children ages 3-18. Based on the principle of Mechanics, Consistency and then Intensity, CrossFit Kids emphasizes good movement throughout childhood and adolescence. Consistently good mechanics translates to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance and fewer sports injuries for kids. Not only that, a vast body of research indicates that exercise is beneficial to cognitive function, which means consistent adherence to the program can have a positive impact on children’s academic achievement. Our specialty is not specializing. Healthy living requires that our kids push, pull, run, throw, climb, lift, jump, effectively and safely regardless of whether or not they play athletics. Athletics is a specialized pursuit. Our goal is to support the specialist, but reward the generalist.

JV1 ATHLETES:
9-12 yrs old

The Kids class builds on the foundation of FUN introduced in the Pre-K and JV2 classes. The skills addressed expand to include the majority of CrossFit’s foundational and auxiliary movements and the time frame extends to accommodate the developing abilities of kids in grades K-7. The goal of the CrossFit Kids program is develop and improve general physical fitness in order to prepare kids to be safe in sports (and life in general). Despite the physical demands of the class, the focus remains on FUN.

JV2 ATHLETES:
5-8 yrs old

The Kids’ class builds on the foundations introduced in the PreK class. The skills addressed expand to include the majority of CrossFit’s foundational and auxiliary movements and the time frame extends to accommodate the developing abilities of kids in grades K-7. The goal of the CrossFit Kids program is to develop and improve general physical fitness in order to prepare kids to be safe in sports (and life in general). Despite the physical demands of the class, the focus remains on FUN.

LIL’ ATHLETES:
PREK-5 yrs old

The goal of the CrossFit Kids program is to develop and improve general physical fitness in order to prepare kids to be safe in sports (and life in general). The PreK program accommodates the developing abilities of kids 3-5 years old. Despite the physical demands of the class, the focus remains on FUN.

OPEN GYM

For all athletes that want to catch up on a WOD or doing some extra skill practice/strength/mobility work.

This is also a great time to get some one on one time with a coach to ensure you make the best of your open gym time. If you don’t have a plan for open gym, ask the coach on the floor, we will help you make the best of this time. Open gym is intended to work on your goats, those movements you are not good at yet. However it’s always good to mix up a “goat” day with work you enjoy doing.

RICE REHAB PHYSICAL THERAPY

Our very own coach Stephanie Volk will be the primary PT. Stephanie has been working at Rice for nearly twenty years. She treats mainly adults with orthopedic and musculoskeletal injuries. She uses treatment modalities such as ultrasound and electrotherapy, but specializes in treating soft tissue structures with manual techniques before prescribing exercises.
